You can add background color to emails, calendar entries,to do items, and other Notes documents. If the design of the application allows it, you can also add graphics as a document's background.

Add background color

  1. While creating or editing a document, click Text > Text Properties.
  2. In the properties box, click the arrow next to Text and select Document.
  3. Click the Background tab.
  4. Select a color from the list in the Color field.
To customize colors, click the color wheel button in the top right corner of the Background Color box.

Add a background image using cut and paste

  1. While creating or editing a document, click Text > Text Properties.
  2. In the properties box, click the arrow next to Text and select Document.
  3. Click the Background tab.
  4. Select the image to copy, and then click Edit > Copy.
  5. Click Paste in the Graphic or Resource section.

    For smaller graphics, select a style from the Repeats field.

Add a background image using import

  1. While creating or editing a document, click Text > Text Properties.
  2. In the properties box, click the arrow next to Text and select Document.
  3. Click the Background tab.
  4. Click Import in the Graphic or Resource section.
  5. Select a BMP, GIF, JPEG, PCX Image, or TIFF 5.0 Bitmap file to import.
  6. Click Import. For smaller graphics, select a style from the Repeats field.

To add a reusable graphic from an application (aka "image resource graphic")


Note: This option is available only if the application designer put images in your image resource library
  1. While creating or editing a document, click Text > Text Properties.
  2. In the properties box, click the arrow next to Text and select Document.
  3. Click the Background tab.
  4. Enter the name of the graphic in the text field in the Graphic or Resource section, or use the folder button to select a graphic.

Remove a graphic from the background

  1. While creating or editing a document, click Text > Text Properties.
  2. In the properties box, click the arrow next to Text and select Document.
  3. Click the Background tab.
  4. Click Remove in the Graphic or Resource section.

Hide a background graphic while your document is in edit mode

  1. While creating or editing a document, click Text > Text Properties.
  2. In the properties box, click the arrow next to Text and select Document.
  3. Click the Background tab.
  4. Select Hide graphic in edit mode in the Options section.

Reset the background to its original color

  1. While creating or editing a document, click Text > Text Properties.
  2. In the properties box, click the arrow next to Text and select Document.
  3. Click the Background tab.
  4. Click the Reset to form color button.
